Southern Fleurieu Peninsula

With its close proximity to both Adelaide and the
coast, the Southern Fleurieu Peninsula region is strategically positioned.
Well made and well priced wines provide the perfect accompaniment
to the local cuisine.
This region at the southern end of the Fleurieu Peninsula is only
30 minutes drive south of Adelaide. It is gentle, undulating coastal
country growing vines in both sandy loam and gravelly ironstone.
The climate is Mediterranean with cooling winds coming from both
the west and south.
The peninsula was established as an important wheat and dairy area
with some viticulture being practiced before the end of the 19th
century. Today there is are a number of boutique wineries and vineyards
with cellar doors.
A range of grape varieties are grown which include Riesling, Viognier,
Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Shiraz.
Tourism is rife in the region with excellent local produce, restaurants
and accommodation. The coastline is a prime whale watching area
and Victor Harbour hosts the Fleurieu Food, Wine and Flora Festival.
