2005 Knappstein Ackland Vineyard Watervale Riesling

Watervale is a small town within the Clare Valley region of South Australia. It produces sensational Riesling, with intense citrus characters and delicate floral tones. It is here that you will find Knappstein’s Ackland vineyard, with its characteristic slate and stony soil.

Knappstein recently began making this single vineyard wine to showcase the unique qualities of both the Ackland vineyard and the Watervale area, and the results are spectacular. The latest 2005 release is absolutely divine, with its aromas of lemon leaves and spring blossoms. The palate has that ethereal quality that I yearn for in Riesling – flavoursome, yet delicate beyond belief.
